The older entries should be updated with any extra info from the newer ones.

The newer entries can then be re-purposed for any other new entry - the data is all changed. This isn't best practice, but is a hacky way of removing duplicates for now.

both my fault, didn't check well enough! :|

n.b. I think the prophet 6 is the 'Dave smith instruments' 'sequential prophet 6' since sequential circuits got bought out ages ago and chopped up for parts. the old stuff is 'sequential circuits inc' 'prophet-5'

he got the permission to use sequential in the industry from nakata/yamaha but is not doing business as sequential circuits inc., just using it as a brand name -- e.g. the tempest is the Dave smith instruments tempest

frustratingly there does not appear to be a hard standard for the names. I see from early ads the prophet-5 has a dash, no leading zero but the newer stuff varies. the apostrophe in the '08 vexes me.

what does not vary is their desirability or expensiveness. my first car was cheaper than these things :(

No worries meatsock :-)

Sorry for the all caps, I was trying to get your attention - I PMd you over on Discogs, but maybe you didn't see that. We need some notification system here (it is coming soon!)

Yeh I wasn't sure the extent he was using the name or what he was doing with the company. Would be interesting to see what the keyboard says on it. Feel free to update it anytime!

From my experience companies can be quite slapdash in their naming schemes! http://www.gearogs.com/list-maker/Modulus / http://www.gearogs.com/list-maker/Modal%20Electronics are another example - Ok, so they had to change their company name, I can understand that. But their 12 voice digi/analog poly is "002", and their two voice 'mono' is "001', and their 8 voice analog is "008"!

Spend money on synths, not cars :-) When I put my Jupiter 6 in my car, I double my cars value!

oh sorry yes discogs DM is a good way to get messages about europeans wo want mp3s of rare records for free but not much else for me.

to email me is best -- i use this username at gmail, twitter, and youtube. for some reason it's never already taken =)

the prophet 6 has a 'sequential' metallic name badge on the front left below the keyboard, and 'prophet-6' (with dash.. wait is that a tilde?! capitol R, lowercase e.. this guy hates rules.) on the top right above the keyboard and both screenprinted on the back.

Gah, too many 1210 dupes! I think making the search find the 'Maker' will help this, but maybe people aren't searching at all before submitting?

i am searching each time and infrequently can find even a thing i knew i submitted using the search. eg. there are never any results for only one term:
http://www.gearogs.com/search?q=technics

the non standard searching behavior has caused me to make duplicate posts in the past but the promise of a perfect tomorrow where it returns good results makes it worth while.

Yup I think this is for sure an area we can improve and make it easier for everyone to find stuff! Thanks!

also if you are trying to submit something with the same name as something that exists already i think a duck or a trumpet sound should play.

+1 for a dupe sound ;) haha
